The time has come and finally we get to start training.
Our first training session will be Thursday 12th August 2010. We will be training at
Robert St park in Newlands until the council fields have finished maintenance.
This year we will only be training 1 night per week. Our
training will start at 6pm and run to 8:30pm.
We will follow the training lay out below:
6pm - Players arrive and get ready;
6:15pm - Warm up (Laps, Ladder drills etc);
6:40pm - Break up into groups (Lineman, DB's, QB's, WR's
and RB's) and work on drills; 7pm - Break up into O and D. Walk though a few plays;
7:45pm - Come together for a scrimmage; 8:30pm - Training finishes.
Everyone needs to show up on time. Lets get this season
started and get back
that Championship trophy.

Contrary to what you think or see on TV, Gridiron is basic to play, RULES are SIMPLE !!!
WE SUPPLY UNIFORMS, PADS & HELMETS FOR PLAYERS TO USE AT TRAINING AND GAME DAY. Also, if you want to buy your own gear? its now easy to buy from a New Zealand Importer. We can supply all those details once you feel you enjoy the sport.
Important: Gridiron suits all types of sizes & speeds, from Rugby to Soccer, its not about Big and Bang all the time - but also about technical and cleaver. "Chess on a playing field comes to mind"
All Southern zone teams fall under the AFW (American Football Wellington League). If you join a Wellington club, then you may be eligible to also try out for the Wellington "STORM TEAM". (many of our club players have played for this team).
Remember GRIDIRON is played during summer in New Zealand ! Keeping winter contact sports players battle hard for Winter.
